How IIoT works and is it secure ?

Image
How does IIoT work? IIoT is a network of intelligent devices connected to form systems that monitor, collect, exchange and analyze data. Each industrial IoT ecosystem consists: Connected devices which can communicate, sense and store information about there own working system. public and/or private data communications infrastructure; analytics and applications that gives business related information from raw data; storage for the data that is generated by the IIoT devices. What are the risks and challenges of IIoT? The biggest risks associated with IIoT use pertain to security. It's relatively common for IIoT devices to continue using default passwords, even after they have been placed into production. Similarly, many IIoT devices transmit data as clear text. These conditions would make it relatively easy for an attacker to intercept the data coming from an IIoT device. Similarly, an attacker could take over an insecure IIoT device and use it as a platform for launching an attack

Where Industries use IIOT ?

Following are the areas where IIoT improved industry production :  Production Now a days production sectors use IIoT technology the most. IIOT enabled smart machines, can monitor itself and anticipate possible production hurdles. This results in less downtime and improved efficiency. Supply Chain Keeping up production numbers is needed, smooth delivery across the supply chain is also important . With IIoT, orders can automatically replenish stocks when needed.     source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JF7TfjbjdRo&t=1s This reduces waste, maintains stock numbers, and insures the correct amount of raw materials are always available. With the automation of supply chains and ordering, employees can focus on more complex areas of functioning. Building Management Building management problems can be handled with IIoT technology. Sensor-driven climate control removes all the uncertainty related to managing a building’s climate and takes all needed factors into consideration for example

INDUSTRIES AND EVOLUTIONS

Industries and evolutions in IIoT                             There has been a shift from the pure Machine to Machine and Industry 4.0 dimension in the Industrial Internet of Things whereby it is used to differentiate between the Internet of Things in the sphere of consumer devices and applications across all types of industries where systems and deployments are mission-critical. In the end and in several Industrial Internet of Things applications, for instance in smart metering or smart city projects, the customers can be consumers so both worlds are not completely different. Major industries include petroleum and gas, manufacturing, health and energy but there are many other like these. Many use cases in government and agriculture, are also seen as IIoT. Following diagram shows applications of IIOT in varius applications :  source : https://www.ptc.com/en/blogs/corporate/what-industries-are-using-iiot Some of the companies that have contributed immensely to providing IoT-

What is IIOT ? Explaination

Image
IIOT -   Industrial Internet of things   I ndustrial internet of things  ( IIoT ) is referred to interconnected devices like sensors, instruments, and other smart devices networked together with computers, industrial applications, including manufacturing and energy management. Use of IIOT allows data collection, exchange, and analysis and facilitates improvements or progress in productivity and efficiency as well as other economic benefits of a particular industry. Basically IIOT is a part of industry 4.0 evolution .   “machines, computers and people enabling intelligent industrial operations using advanced data analytics for transformational business outcomes”  Still not getting ?      watch this -->             source : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ao4FEaDGhQ
